    Golden Visa with new and easier rules in Portugal

    Portuguese Government introduce changes in Golden Visa rules to attract even more foreign investment to capitalize and promote investments in small and medium-sized companies- which are not very large investments - but which can be decisive not only for the economic recovery of small and medium-sized enterprises, but also for the creation of new companies, which are the great engine of the Portuguese economy.

    The required amount of investment in small and medium-sized companies has been reduced in order to obtain a residence permit for foreigners, which will be lower than that required for the Real Estate sector.

    With the changes to residence permit regime for investment or the Golden Visa Program, must :Invest

    350 thousand euros for the creation of Portuguese companies or strengthening the capital of Portuguese companies from which maintain or establish 5 permanent jobs;

    Investment of 200 thousand euros in Portuguese companies that are in a Plan of Recovery or Revitalization;

    Invest 350 thousand euros in funds for capitalization of Portuguese companies.

    These changes arise as a result of the Portuguese Government having had the previous measure of this program have managed to capture investment solely and exclusively for the acquisition of real estate.

    The numbers speak for themselves, since the creation of this instrument, which aims at raising investment, were allocated 5,003 ARI:

    • 2 in 2012;
    • 494 in 2013;
    • 1,526 in 2014,
    • 766 in 2015,
    • 1,414 in 2016
    • 801 this year.

    With the changes now introduced new rules for obtaining the Visa Gold, Portuguese Government expected to further foreign investors but with a market capitalization distributed by other economic areas that are vital to the Portuguese economy.
