    Olhão, a city since 1985, sees its history at the beginning of the 17th century with the construction of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, thanks to the "Men of the Sea" and also in the same year to Queen Maria Anna of Austria Of D. Pedro V, authorizing the construction of houses.

    Throughout the 18th century, Olhão has become an urban and population development, making it one of the largest settlements in the Algarve. In 1881, industrialization brought the canned fish factories, being one of the largest centers of the Algarve. More fishing frames, Hospitals, and shipbuilding emerged. The historic area of Olhão is characterized by the irregular layout of the white houses and the diversity of nooks, alleys, with windows and doors decked with plaques.
